As much fun as painting scenery may be - Portraits are quite possibly even more so. So here's another of Ian McKellen as Gandalf. That should satisfy my urges to paint LotR related art, for the time being.
All done in Painter IX, about ~8+ hours; based on a reference photograph.
The process was similar to the last one I posted, but I could post another step-by-step thingy, if anyone would like to see it.
His beard looks quite unrealistic. try adding some hair right below his lower lip, and maybe you could make the hair of his moustache a bit longer.
Also add some hair on the mid sections of his cheeks, that's how beards grow. His beard should have the same yellow tones as his hair(it's too white).
The hair line on your right is a bit lower than it should be or the left one is too high.
Overall, I give it a 9/10, well done!!
Very well done. I think you did the shading of the white (OK, that sounds stupid...) nicely, and the lines in his face came off very well. And I like looking at Sir Ian McKellen so that doesn't hurt...

Last time you called me late at night you were naked and chained to your shower curtain rod. I hope this isn't going to be disappointing.

Had a sick dragon father, Mother with a mental age of 6, Was raised by vampires, Adopted a Goblin King who had a labyrinth for a brother, An Opera Ghost for a new father, And married a hobbit who does nothing but drink.. I'M SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta agree about the beard - The shape is pretty much on, actually, but the lighting could use some work. The original does have some more subtle darker tones, which my version is missing, so it appears a bit flat.
Thanks for commenting - Glad you like it, overall!

I've met many so-called artists who, through their poor art, become more popular than the real artists and make them lose their confidence. Therefore, I decided to protest by excellence using the methods, to do something for the great artists who have something to say but who are underrated because of the huge amount of poor "art". You mean the light tones, in general?
